Native Americans Rule As far back as our first President, George Washington, this land belonged to the Nations of the Indian Federation. The white man was coming here to get away from their country to start a new life. The newly founding country was struggling to become a nation. But the Indians were fighting back. At one point in history, George Washington had lost 90 percent of his army because the Indian Federation made a surprise attack on them. He had to regroup and build a new army. White man fought his way to win. But only to calm the Indians down, and at that point treaties were made. That gave the Indians territorial rights and cash payments guaranteed by the government. Today those rights still stand. Grants are given to the Native Americans as part of those treaties, and that is the reason that on their reservations now, their laws are theirs, and the laws of the government of the United States are not inforced. That is why there is an Indian Affairs Department in the government.
If you are a Native American, your tribal card is worth alot. Because someone in Washington DC is representing you. This land does belong to you and you can the get the benefits that may be coming to you. Your ancestors fought and signed a treaty for that right.
